INSIGA II: Energy Communities in Industrial Areas
The second part of the INSIGA project is already working to provide technological support tools and applications for the optimisation of the design of Energy Communities in industrial areas.
Recently and incipiently, the first pilot experiences of energy communities have begun, particularly promoted by local entities in urban areas, and with some initial experiences in the embryonic phase in some industrial areas. Thus, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the IDAE, has designed an ecosystem to support energy communities, allocated 100 million euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The funds will be articulated through three lines of aid: Learn, Plan and Implement, which will be complemented by a network of Community Transformation Offices.
In this context, the deployment of energy communities will require the availability of planning, design and decision support tools to capture and exploit the huge amount of energy information on consumption, generation and prices that converge in the design and management of energy communities and to meet the needs of the diversity of agents involved (SMEs, energy managers, maintenance companies, etc.) in an agile and intuitive way.
The Insiga II project aims to help companies group together in the framework of the existing industrial areas in the territory to jointly face the energy transition and provide themselves with collective self-consumption from photovoltaic energy facilities in the best possible way and take advantage of the opportunities of the ongoing energy transition and digitisation to move towards Industry 4.0 and improve their competitiveness.
Insiga II, which has an implementation period from November 2021 to August 2022, promotes collaboration between autonomous communities with its consortium formed by Clúster de l’Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC) (as applicant and coordinator of the project), the ICT energy management application developer GASSÓ CIMNE INERGY (Inergy), Bee Data Analytics as the energy data analytics company and the engineering and consulting firm Armengol & Ros Consultors Associats (ARCbcn), along with NAVARRA DE SUELO Y VIVIENDA (Nasuvinsa), as a reference entity in the management of land on industrial estates.
This project is co-financed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (MINCOTUR) through the second call for AEIs in 2021 in the framework of the Next Generation grants and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
